If you consider yourself an automotive fan, you’ve probably been to an auto show or two before. But if you’re completely new to the scene, why not make attending an automotive event one of your goals for 2023? These events are great ways to expand your hobby, get some advice on what your next vehicle should be, and make connections with other people with similar interests.

From car swaps to conferences, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. To help you start planning, here’s a list of some automotive events taking place in 2023 in Ontario.

Watching an Auto Show

If you’re going to a conference or discussion panel, you won’t need to bring much along. But if you’re planning to hit up a classic car show or cruise-in, especially an outdoor event in the summer, pack items like these to help you stay comfortable all day:

  • money (some smaller events may be cash-only)
  • foldable chairs
  • towels or blankets
  • snacks and drinks
  • sunscreen and sunglasses
  • camera

Participating in an Auto Show

If you’re displaying your own car at an auto show or cruise-in, there are a few extra things you’ll want to pack. First, putting all your car’s information and a summary of its history on an easy-to-read poster is a great way to help people appreciate it. Printing out small cards with your contact information will help you stay connected with the people you meet.

If you’re showing off a project car you’ve put your heart and soul into, it’s also nice to bring along some transformation photos to show what your vehicle looked like when you first got it. If you’re at a competitive show, displaying any trophies or awards you’ve previously won is another way to impress your audience and any judges.

Don’t forget to bring along some detailing supplies for any last-minute touch-ups. We recommend bringing the following so you’ll be prepared for anything at your next auto show:

  • cleaning products & wipes
  • tire shine
  • polish
  • microfiber towels
  • paper towels

Life can be unpredictable. Don’t let an unexpected battery failure or sudden low tire pressure ruin your day at the auto show. Along with some basic tools, it doesn’t hurt to have a portable jump starter and air compressor with you, just in case. Even if nothing happens to your vehicle, someone else may be in need and will appreciate your preparedness.

Other Advice

For those planning to showcase a car in 2023, consider taking your submission in for a professional detail. Don’t forget to run through a full maintenance routine to make sure your vehicle is in the best shape possible.
